An Old Home, Zoar, Ohio
Streets, homes and lawns were cleanly, characteristic
of the German habit. Home interiors were scrupulous-
ly scrubbed and dusted. Many of the domiciles were
double and accommodated two or more families. AL.
though indicating the strictest economy in construction
they were comfortable. Floors were mostly bare or
partially and cheaply carpeted. The furniture was simple,
sparse, heavy and time-honored. Pictures and orna.
ments were few.
There was no variation denoting
different degrees of comfort' as one sees in every other
village. Vines, shrubs and flowers were grown in
profusion.
The Ohio State Historical Society and the Zoar
Historical Society are collaborating in the preservation
of old Zoar Village.
