THOMAS JEFFERSON was born in Albemarle Co.,
Virginia on April 2, 1743. He was elected by the Jeffersonian
or Democratic (then called Republican) party which he founded,
and was re-elected almost unanimously. The "Louisiana
Purchase" which gave to the United States the great empire
beyond the Mississippi was made during his administration.
He died July 4, 1826.
