Brambling. - Fringilla Montifringilla
(Linn.). A winter visitor to this country
and may be seen with Chaffinches and
other finches searching for beech-nuts or
insects. In winter the chestnut and black
plumage is partly obscured with brown
tips. It haunts woods and fields. A
favourite spot is under beech trees, where
it searches for mast. Length :-51"
