Nuthatch. ----Sitta Europaea Affinus
(Blyth.). This is a pretty and interesting
trunk creeping bird, walking up and down
the tree trunk with equal ease. The
plumage of the upper parts is soft slate-
blue and beneath it is buff, shading to
chestnut-red on the flanks.
Haunts :-
Woods, parks and trees in gardens. The
nest is of dead leaves, grass and bark; in
a hole usually in a tree trunk. Eggs :-5
white spotted with light red.
