Basket Making In The Ozarks
Additional Details:
One of the few native handicrafts remaining in the U. S. A. is still practiced near Camdenton, Mo. in the beautiful Ozark mountains. The extremely sturdy baskets are hand split and woven from the most select, straight, knot free, second growth, white oak and hickory trees. It is quite common to find baskets, just like these made today, in homes in the area, that are 25 to 50 years old. Their strength and durability and their natural beauty make them unique in this day of mass production Dexter |
