The Thoreau Lyceum, situated next to the site of the "Texas
House", is the only building dedicated to preserving the im-
age and ideals of the Concord naturalist-writer-philosopher.
It has a library, natural history room and gift-bookshop.
Memorabilia on display include survey maps, letters, pictures
and possessions of Thoreau and his family. A replica of the
Walden House is being built behind the Lyceum. Changing ex-
hibitions based on the world of nature through photographs
and paintings as well as Concord history and literature are
shown throughout the year. Admission free.
