The U. S. MINT is a government establishment
for the coining of lawful metallic money. Besides
making the coined money for the United States,
the mint also makes metallic money for foreign
nations and does considerable business in the
line of supplying fine gold and silver bars for
industrial uses. In 1930 new and improved
molds for minor coinage ingots were adopted in
the melting and refining department and a
grinding device has been installed which elim-
inated all hand filing.
