CHICKADEE
(Penthestes atricapillus)
When winter's snows cover the ground, the spirited, friendly little
Chickadee is a welcome visitor. The small, chunky fellow likes nothing
better than to find some sunflower seeds or suet cups in the feeding
station or hung on a tree branch. He will play around in the trees all
day-happily singing away while he carries on a search for tree insects
and seeds. He is found generally throughout eastern North America.
Occasionally, he makes his nest in an old Woodpecker hole.
