On the Monterey Peninsula, there are three
organized communities, Monterey, Pacific Grove
and Carmel. In addition to this is the Del
Monte Hotel and properties.
Monterey is one of the most picturesque of
American cities. It is known as the city of
three flags, and the cradle of California's
history. California's first state capitol was lo-
cated here, as well as many other historical
landmarks, which today unfold the romance
of "Old Monterey."
Pacific Grove is a modern, progressive resi-
dential city of unusual beauty, and is situated
in the midst of a pine forest on the edge of
Monterey Bay.
Carmel is a village of unusual quaintness
and beauty nestled among the pines with a
superb bay frontage and a mountainous
background. It is a community of the artist,
the writer, the poet, the scientist, the painter
and the playwright- a cultural center of un-
usual interest and famous the world over.
