The natives of the southern Appalachian Mountains are noted for their many handicrafts which have been handed down from generation to generation. Almost every community has some individual or family who devote all or part of their time to the making of hooked rugs, baskets, weaving, etc. the man shown here is working on one of the many designs of hooked rugs and using the old fashioned tools usually employed by The Mountains Rug Makers.
