Once the scene of boisterous carousing during the hey-day
of barge traffic on the Delaware Canal, Mechanic Street
is now the mecca of thousands of visitors who are attracted
by its distinctive shops and excellent restaurants. The
house on the extreme right was built in 1719 and is the
oldest residence in New Hope.
