As The Pan-American, finest passenger train of
the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, speeds past
WSM's 878-foot tower, 12 miles south of Nashville,
Tenn., on its way from Cincinnati to New Orleans,
the sound of the train and the engine's whistle can
be heard each week-day in every state of the Union.
Passengers in the air-conditioned lounge car of the
south-bound Pan-American listen to the broadcast
of their train as it passes the microphone.
