Series 6 The Engineers of the United States army saw a lot of active service during the European war, and they are the most efficient body of Engineers in the world. This is one of the most important branches of the service, and frequently the most dangerous. The Engineers are often as much as a day's march ahead of the main body of troops, clearing roads, preparing camp sites and building bridges.
