Fala, whose real name was Murray. Out
law of Falahill, was given to the President in
1940 by his cousin Miss Margaret Suckley. A
constant companion and favorite of the Presi-
dent, Fala accompanied him on many trips.
He made several trips to sea and frequently
came to Warm Springs. Fala died in 1952, two
days short of his 12th birthday and was buried
in the rose garden at Hyde Park not far
from his master.
