CA
TO THE
Boy Scouts of America
By Robert B. Rogers
MOTORI
IRST your God, and then your country,"
That's the rule of a REVERENT Scout.
If you're LOYAL to your Master,
Happiness will come about.
Be upright, my lads, and honest;
Never fear the truth to tell.
Be you ever KIND and HELPFUL,
'Tis your duty; do it well.
Hold your tongue and keep your temper,
Weigh each word before you speak,
BE PREPARED to meet all troubles,
But for trouble never seek.
Smile, my boys, be bright and CHEERFUL,
Ever BRAVE and fearless, too.
It will help you win life's battles,
And success will follow you.
Be OBEDIENT to your parents,
Also CLEAN of heart each day.
You must always be TRUSTWORTHY
If the manly part you play.
If you're THRIFTY, COURTEOUS, FRIENDLY,
You'll be ever staunch and true.
Such a Scout the world will honor,
And that Scout, I trust, be you.
These are rules that Scouts must follow;
Always have them on your mind,
Milestones on the road to manhood,
And in each some good you'll find.
