Two Boy Scouts Starting Fire
Additional Details:
Series 3
If without matches, burnign glass or flint and steel, the Scout may start a fire by use of the Bow Drill. His succes depends on the quality of wood for the Drill and the fire-board which must be not too wet, too oily, to gummy, too resined nor too soft. The Indians commonly used a dry cedar. With this and a bow tied together with a leather thong and a drill socket applied as seen in the picture, fire has been started in less than one minute |
