Loading is one of the most important parts of a canoe trip, if you would avoid the tragedy of a sudden ducking with the loss of tools which would sink, not to consider wetting the occupants and their blankets, which would do much to spoil the day and if the provisions happened to be in the unfortunate canoe, another start would have to be made and perhaps a day lost. The load should be a little back of the middle with the provisions for the noon lunch easily accessible. Note in the picture how the canoe is made fast for loading |
