The use of signals by Scouts is quite common, many forms of signaling are in use. The naval Wig-Wag signal code being the most common. Every Scout must familiarize himself with this work before he becomes a first-class Scout. The smoke signal used by the Indians may be made use of in the open where but little air is stirring. The heliograph signals may be used with a pocket mirror when the sun is shining or a bright light may be used
