TEACEAE CYNAROIDES. Order PROTEACEAE. Perennial Shrub.
Height 8 ft. Flowers May - November. Found on mountain slopes in
coastal belt of Cape Province. The South African National Flower.
The orange flower is GOUSBLOM or MARIGOLD. A specie of
GAZANIA. Order COMPOSITAE. Mostly perennial. Height 6-9
inches. Flowers August - October. Found in open veld mostly in
Cape coastal belt. Decorative garden plants. The trees are WITTE-
BOOM or SILVER TREES. Latin name LEUCADENDRON
ARGENTEUM. Order PROTEACEAE. Height 25 - 40 ft. Flowers
August. Found on hill - slopes in Cape Peninsula and neighbourhood.
Celebrated for beautiful and distinctive "silver leaves."
