This building, one of the few municipally
owned museums in America, is unique in ar-
rangement and installation of the interior and
is divided into three main wings—European,
Asiatic and American, with the arts of each
period shown in appropriate settings. Many
of the institute's treasures are famed through-
out the entire world, including the Diego
Riviera frescoes which were the center of a
national controversy a few years ago.
