QUALITY
The Sisters of Charity began their organ-
ized work in caring for orphan children in the
house on the corner of Washington and Bridge
Streets which was purchased and presented to
them by Thomas Looby in 1866. They were in-
corporated in 1871 under the name of the City
Orphan Asylum and erected in 1875 a brick
building which with an addition in 1893 consti-
tutes the present commodious asylum.
