SUPERIOR, Wis. Superior derives its name from Lake
Superior, a translation of the original French ,,Lac Superior",
meaning,,Upper Lake".
At the head of the lakes on either side of the mouth of the
St. Louis River, lie the cities of Duluth and Superior. The
rich ores of the Lake Superior district and the grains of the
rapidly developing northwest country fill the cities' elevators
and docks with a steadily moving stream of wealth. Steam-
ship and railway interests in the two cities are very extensive.
The North Western Line provides direct service to and from
St. Paul, Minneapolis, Omaha, Chicago, Milwaukee and other
cities.
