Texas, the largest state in the Union, comprises approxi-
mately one-twelfth the area of the entire United States.
Known foremost for its hospitality and its wealth, derived
from the cattle raising, the oil and the natural gas resources.
The Alamo, located at San Antonio, is one of the Texas
shrines. Heroes like James Bowie, James Bonham and Davy
Crockett fought to the last to defend the Texas liberty. The
cry "Remember the Alamo" spurred the Texans to victory at
San Jacinto. The San Jacinto Monument, commemorating the
battle of San Jacinto, is located at the Battle Field about 20
miles east of Houston
