Brooklyn, the second largest of the five boroughs of New
York City, was until 1898, when it became a part of Greater
New York, the fourth largest city in point of population in
the United States. Prospect Park includes 516 acres of roll-
ing land with picturesque lakes and an unrivaled growth of
old forest trees. The park is beautifully laid out, care hav-
ing been taken in the 40 years of its existence as a park to
preserve its admirable natural features.
