Hickman County Courthouse

The County was named for Capt. Paschall Hickman in 1821.. Who was massacred by Indians after "River Raisin" battle Jan. 1813. He was one of nine Kentucky officers killed in that action for whom counties were named. The original county of Hickman comprised the Kentucky portion of the Jackson purchase. The first county seat was at Columbus, Ky. The original county of Hickman has been subdivided, over the years, into eight counties. |
