Detroit news presses can print, cut, fold, and deliver 360,000 48-page papers an hour. The Detroit News has three batteries of black-and-white presses, the largest being nearly 200 feet long. Their capacity is 360,000 complete 48-page papers, printed, cut, folded, counted and delivered to the mailing department every hour. They consume nearly 55,000 of paper of standard width of 70 inches, fed to them in continuous ribbon from rolls in the basement. Ink used in the printing amounts to 1,750,000 pounds a year.
