Greenfinch or Green Linnet (Ligurinus chloris).
A bird of the Finch family common in Britain. It builds
a nest of fibres, moss, hair, etc., loosely constructed, and
lays from four to six greenish-white eggs with brown or grey
spots, two broods often being reared in one season. The
Poppy (Papaver rhaas) is a plant common in the English
cornfields. It has a small medicinal worth, but is more.
valued for the rich colour of the blossom.
