Vulcan, iron man built by the Chamber of
Commerce for the St. Louis Exposition in 1904.
is the second largest statue in America, the first
being the Statue of Liberty. Vulcan at its per-
manent home on the top of Red Mountain
mounted on a 120-foot tower overlooking the
city. The statue is 50 feet tall and weighs
120,000 pounds. One thumb is three feer long
and weighs 170 pounds.
