The Birney Memorial

| Dedicated to the memory of Alice McLellan Birney, Founder of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, the Birney Memorial stands on the high school grounds at Marietta, Georgia, the Founder's girlhood home. It is built of beautiful native marble and surrounded by a sundial court composed of stones from the State Congresses. The Memorial, unveiled in September 1942, serves as a perpetual tribute to the vision of a great parent-teacher leader. |
