ART PUBLISHERS TO THEIR MAJESTIES THE KING AND QUEEN,
NEW YORK STATE MONUMENT. The pedestal
and column together are 135 feet high, surmounted by the
statue of "Victory," 15 feet, 8 inches high; the latter weighs
6,200 pounds, and cost $12,000; "Victory" holds in one
hand an olive wreath, -symbolical of peace, while four bronze
tablets commemorate the killed and wounded. The monument
was dedicated on July 2d, 1893, the thirtieth anniversary of
the battle, and, including pedestal and column, cost $65,000.
