FIRST STATE CAPITOL. The first state government
of Tennessee was held in August, 1797, and occupied the old
building standing on Cumberland Avenue, east of Gay Street.
It is still much the same in appearance as it was over a
hundred years ago, except for a few improvements which
time has made necessary. The first constitutional convention.
