Additional Details:
The Governor's Reception Room is used by the Governor for entertaining distinguished guests. The color schemes for its furnishing and decorations were worked out by the architect of the building and is one of the most harmoniously furnished rooms in any public place. The rug is 22 x 48 feet and weighs 1,350 pounds. The lace curtains are hand made, requiring the entire time of one woman for six months to make one pair. The draperies around the windows are inlaid with pure gold and trimmed with pure gold lace, braid, and fringe. The tapestry is an exquisite specimen of embossed silk embroidery. The chandeliers are made of Utah gold and silver trimmed with cut glass. The mural paintings are by Louis Schettle, a noted American artist. The total cost of the furnishings of this room was $65,000.
