The bridge alone represents an expenditure of about three and one-quarter millions and provides a modern four lane divided roadway 85 feet above the river channel. It extends 2448 feet from abutment to abutment and serves traffic for Routes U. S. 1, Conn. 80 and Conn. 156. It was opened for use December 4, 1948 by Governor Baldwin
