BARSTOW, CALIFORNIA
Barstow, with its modern motels, cafe and stores,
is far removed from its day when it was a little
desert junction for overland wagons and later an
outfitting point for Death Valley expeditions.
Barstow was the center of gold and silver mining
when Calico was in its heyday. Highway 66 is
in part the Old Sante Fe Trail opened up in
1831...M.P.
