Additional Details:
Sutter Creek, named for General John A. Sutter who built his first sawmill on the creek where the town is now located. Many of the original buildings with their picturesque balconies and iron railings, are still in use. This has now become a tradition and natural charm. Mountains of tailings from the quartz mines bear mute testimony to the millions upon millions of gold taken from this area.
