"Air Capital of the Southwest" The traveler arriving in Lordsburg after a long journey from the East or West is immediately impressed by the hospitality of this typical western town. The county is named for General Miguel Hidalgo y Costello, who was leader of the war of Mexican Independence, and the town was settled first by the Spaniards seeking gold.
