Additional Details:
Portland, the vacation city of Vacationland, has one of the finest water systems in the United States. We invite you to come to Maine, and try a drink of pure Sebago water. The Portland Water District was established in 1908. The source of supply is Sebago Lake, about 17 miles from Portland. The lake is a beautiful sheet of water some 12 miles long, 4 to 5 miles wide, containing about 46 square miles of water surface. The elevation of the lake is 272 feet above mean low tide in Portland and the water flows by gravity to the city.
