THE ALAMO, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
Mission San Antonio De Valero was established in
1718. The Mission's church and fortress, the Alamo,
was completed in 1744 by the Franciscan Fathers.
When Texas declared her independence from Mexico
on March 6, 1836, after siege the Alamo fell to the
Mexican Army. Every man of the defending forces,
fighting to the last, was killed.
