Guardia Field. Covering an area of 550 acres, this
airport was constructed at a cost of $40,000,000.
Opened in 1939, it is considered an official port of
entry to the United States. Mammouth Hangars,
four great runways, service buildings, and the
Weather Bureau handle more than 450 planes each
day entering and leaving La Guardia Field.
