HO TAI
This Jolly "Pa Hsien" or being was born with a
crescent shaped navel. Thus he was granted special
powers and venerated in ancient Cathay as the
Good Luck God who brought health and happiness
to whomever rubbed his belly and asked his
assistance.
The pregnant wife was granted a fair and
healthy child.
The unmarried girl soon found a handsome
husband.
The poor found sustenance.
The original carvings were generally in rosewood or
ivory inlay.
On display at the SEA CAPTAIN'S Gift Shop, 211
Jefferson Street, San Francisco, California.
All donations to Ho Tai go to the Lion's Eye
Foundation.
