The Pine Mountain Ski Slide is the highest ar-
tificial slide in the world. The slide has a ver-
tical height of 500 feet. The slope from the
top of the slide to the bottom of the hill is
1000 feet. The speed attained by the jumper
is 60 miles per hour. A ski tow carries the z
riders back to the top of the hill at a speed of
14 miles per hour. Here Bob Roecker of Du-
luth, won the American amateur jumping title
with a record jump of 257 feet,
