Millard Fillmore, the thirteenth President of the United States, was born on Feb. 7th, 1800, in that part of Cayuga Co. NY, now known as Summerhill, and was a farmer's boy with but little education. On the death of Zachary Taylor in 1850, he filled out the term as President. He was twice married - first in 1826 to Abigail Powers; his second wife, whom he married in 1858, was Caroline C McIntosh, a widow retiring in private life, he went to Buffalo to live, and passed the remainder of his days surrounded by all the comforts and luxuries of a beautiful and well-appointed home. He died there on March 8th, 1874, his widow surviving him seven years.
