TUCK'S POST CARLA
By Appointment.
Buffalo-Home of Millard Fillmore. Millard Fillmore,
thirteenth President of the United States, was born on
Feb. 7th, 1800, in that part of Cayuga Co., N.Y., now
known as Summerhill, and was a farmer's boy with but
little education. On the death of Zachary Taylor in 1850,
he filled out the term as President. He was twice married
-first in 1826 to Abigail Powers; his second wife, whom he
married in 1858, was Caroline C. McIntosh, a widow.
Retiring to private life, he went to Buffalo to live, and
passed the remainder of his days surrounded by all the
comforts and luxuries of a beautiful and well-appointed
home. He died there on March 8th, 1874, his widow
surviving him seven years.
