Indianapolis-Home of Benjamin Harrison. Benjamin
Harrison, the twenty-third President of the United States,
was born in North Bend, Ohio, Aug. 20th, 1833. He was
a graduate of Miami University in 1852, and entered the
army in 1862, becoming brigadier-general in 1865. He was
twice married, the first time, in 1853, to Caroline Lavinia
Scott, who died in 1892 in the White House, and the second
time, in 1896, to a widow, Mrs. Mary Scott Dimmick. He
died of pneumonia at his home in Indianapolis on March
13th, 1901.
