Boston Theatre, afterwards called Federal Street Theatre, performances began
at 6 P. M. Many of the great actors, such as McCready, Kean, the eider Booth, etc.,
appeared here. At the back, and extending to Hawley Street, was an orchard. The
church spire on the left is the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, and stood on the present
site of the Cathedral building, corner Devon-
shire and Franklin.
