AMERICA'S MOST POWERFUL LIGHTHOUSE
Sullivan's Island, S. C.
"Charleston Light" is the name of the most power-
ful lighthouse in North and South America - second
most powerful in the world. Protected by the sand
dunes on beautiful Sullivan's Island, the triangular
shaped structure is the first of its type. It is 173
ft. overall and operates at 28 million candlepower
at high intensity. Administered by the U. S. Coast
Guard.
