World-famed Storm King Highway. Most im-
pressive in construction; carved from the perpen-
dicular granite face of Storm King Mountain in
the Highlands, at an elevation of more than 400
feet above the most beautiful portion of the Hud-
son River.
Washington's patriotic soldiers were compelled
to make a most difficult journey across this moun-
tain, many day's march, to reach West Point.
This highway is the most expensive piece of
road construction in the world.
Not only for its scenery is it noted, it also
effects a saving of miles of travel.
