Wreckage of Royal Air Force "Catalina"

DIEGO GARCIA A squadron of Royal Air Force "CATALINA" flying boats operated from East Point during World War II. Although the squadron never saw action, two planes were wrecked when a 1944 tropical storm swept them onto the beach. The wreckage of one can be seen yet today. Photo Credit: E.
