One of the oldest Restaurants in Oakland, the
Grotto was established in 1936 by Sam and Matt
Franichevich. In 1955, Andy, Tony and Mike ac-
quired the business, and maintaining the same
atmosphere, laid the foundation for the present
Grotto.
