In Hitchcocks-ville (now Riverton) Conn. Lambert Hitchcock
erected the historic factory which stands there to this day. L.
Hitchcock died in 1852. His production ceased about Civil
War time and later the manufactory' was boarded up and
abandoned to the surrounding woods. Restoration was begun
in 1946 by the newly formed Hitchcock Chair Company for
the reproduction of stenciled furniture marked:
