Stonington Lighthouse was erected in 1841 to
take the place of an older light tower on the
point which was undermined and eroded away
in 1840. The Lighthouse Building is now main-
tained and operated as a museum by the Ston-
ington Historical Society. It now, contains many
relics of Stonington's historic past.
